Herb Roasted Chicken Recipe with Crispy Skin and Italian Herbs
Nothing beats the aroma of a classic Herb Roasted Chicken Recipe fresh from the oven. Crispy golden skin, juicy chicken, roasted garlic, and fresh lemon create a meal that feels comforting, elegant, and surprisingly easy to prepare. This Italian inspired recipe uses Wurzpott Tutto Italiano Seasoning to bring together a perfectly balanced blend of oregano, savory, marjoram, thyme, basil, rosemary, and sage for exceptional flavor in every bite.

One of the secrets to outstanding Italian Herb Roasted Chicken is using bone in, skin on chicken thighs. The higher roasting temperature allows the skin to become beautifully crisp while keeping the meat tender and juicy. Fresh garlic slowly caramelizes alongside the chicken, while sliced onion and lemon release their natural sweetness into the pan juices, creating a flavorful sauce without additional work.
Wurzpott Tutto Italiano Seasoning makes it easy to achieve authentic herb flavor without measuring multiple dried herbs. The seasoning blend coats the chicken evenly and infuses every bite with classic Mediterranean character. Combined with olive oil, butter, garlic, and fresh lemon, Wurzpott Tutto Italiano Seasoning creates a savory herb crust that looks as impressive as it tastes.
Another key to success is roasting until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of about 175°F. While chicken is safe to eat at 165°F, chicken thighs become noticeably more tender as additional connective tissue breaks down. Allowing the chicken to rest for several minutes before serving also helps preserve its natural juices for maximum flavor.
This Herb Roasted Chicken Recipe pairs beautifully with roasted potatoes, grilled vegetables, buttered pasta, parmesan polenta, or warm focaccia bread. The rich pan juices are perfect for spooning over every serving, adding even more flavor to the finished meal.
If you are looking for an easy Italian Herb Roasted Chicken that delivers crispy skin, juicy meat, and comforting homemade flavor, Wurzpott Tutto Italiano Seasoning is the perfect way to create a memorable dinner your family will request again and again.

Ingredients
-
2 1/2 pounds bone in skin on chicken thighs or mixed chicken pieces
-
2 tbsp olive oil
-
1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
-
2 1/2 to 3 tsp Tutto Italiano seasoning
-
1 tsp kosher salt
-
1/2 tsp black pepper
-
5 garlic cloves, smashed
-
1 small yellow onion, thickly sliced
-
1 lemon, half sliced and half reserved for juice
-
2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
-
1/4 cup chicken broth
-
Optional crushed red pepper flakes for serving
Directions
Preheat the oven to 425°F.
Pat the chicken completely dry with paper towels. Dry skin is essential for proper browning and crispiness.
In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, melted butter, Tutto Italiano seasoning, kosher salt, and black pepper.
Arrange the chicken in a large baking dish or oven safe skillet. Tuck the smashed garlic cloves, onion slices, and lemon slices around the chicken.
Brush or rub the herb mixture evenly over all sides of the chicken, including underneath portions of the skin where possible for deeper flavor.
Roast uncovered for 30 to 40 minutes, depending on the size of the chicken pieces, until the skin is golden brown and crisp and the internal temperature reaches 175°F in the thickest portion of the thighs.
After about 20 minutes, spoon some of the pan juices over the chicken to help develop flavor and color.
If the pan becomes dry during roasting, add the chicken broth carefully to the bottom of the pan.
For extra crispy skin, broil for 1 to 2 minutes at the end while watching carefully.
Remove from the oven and allow the chicken to rest for 5 to 10 minutes before serving.
Squeeze the reserved lemon over the chicken and garnish with fresh parsley and optional crushed red pepper flakes before serving.
Serve with roasted potatoes, parmesan polenta, grilled vegetables, focaccia bread, Caesar salad, or buttered pasta.
Recipe Note
Bone in skin on chicken develops significantly more flavor and juicier texture than boneless chicken.
Roasting at high heat helps render the chicken skin and creates better caramelization.
Allowing the chicken to rest before serving helps retain moisture and improves texture.
For deeper flavor, season the chicken and refrigerate uncovered for up to 8 hours before roasting.
